past experience

Senior Software Developer, Lands' End Europe - Oakham, Rutland March 2004 - May 2013
Progressing from 'Systems Support Analyst' to 'Senior Developer' through continued success and outstanding appraisal results year on year. This role included recruiting and managing contract and junior developers and leading software projects end to end, from concept meetins with the business, through to delivery and training. I established myself as the contact of choice for all aspects of IT, with a reputation for going beyond expectation, across all levels of the business. Working and supporting creative teams and liasing with international offices, business partners and vendors to bring about progress and evolution of systems and IT.

highlights

Concession Integration – required multiple systems to enable listing Lands’ End products on Amazon.co.uk and Debenhams.com establishing new multi-million pound sales channels. These include a contact management system, image library and processor, order management, paperwork and reporting tool. All systems were solely developed and implemented by myself using WPF, MVVM, WCF, SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, XML and FTP. I also acted as project manager throughout these implementations liaising with internal and external business partners, planning resources and engineering business processes.
EPOS – I independently developed a complete EPOS solution through multiple ‘Agile’ iterations. Includes in-store till registers with integration to a central back office solution for stock control and reporting. Uses WinForms, WCF, WebServices, SQL Express.
Order Entry – I developed a wrapper application to a legacy IBM TN3270 emulation. Extends functionality to include customer metrics, parcel tracking and real time sales information. Also developed to support PCI compliance through third party screen and voice capture.
Employee Evaluation – this system was developed to simplify employee appraisals by allowing an employee to be assessed by multiple people for one or more jobs role they perform. The results are then aggregated to give an overall impression of the employee’s performance. Evaluations are scheduled to take place as required by the user with results being assessed through a simple visualisation tool.
I have also developed numerous smaller scale applications and managed other developers to support the business in partnership with its growing requirements. This has given me a broad understanding of the needs of customer service, marketing, finance, order fulfillment and HR teams.

Web Designer, Charles Bentley & Son Loughborough, Leicestershire 1999-2004 (part-time)
I was employed as a Web Designer tasked with developing the corporate web site to be more dynamic and easier to manage through a content management solution. During my time at Charles Bentley I also implemented an intranet platform including reporting and scheduling functions. Furthermore, I provided daily technical assistance working with the design team to assist in product and packaging design.
TESCO Supermarkets Loughborough & Manchester, 1996-2004 (part-time whilst studying)

My duties included handling cash, stock management and ensuring legal compliance.
